This workshop presented by Chapman University will include an overview of the website Images and Imaginings of Internment: Comics and Illustrations of Camp. This multimodal website is intended to teach middle students and above about the Japanese American incarceration, its history, its inhabitants, and the social and political climate surrounding Executive Order 9066.

The workshop will include a step-by-step discussion of the educational aspects of the site from internment history to visual representations, to podcasts and stories on the website, with website and exhibition creators, Jan Osborn (Dept. of English), Jessica Bocinski (Website designer, Escalette Collection) and Stephanie Takaragawa (Dept. of Anthropology). Free educational materials will be provided to use with the website, as well as bibliographic handouts.
